The Web 2.0 Software Stack

Two of these components have already been replaced by simpler or more functional components in the Web 2.0 stack:

DATA-GRID is replacing the third — the DBMS.

DATA-GRID is replacing the combination of a relational DBMS and an object-to-relational mapping layer with a DBMS built to support the W3C-defined ontology description language (OWL). OWL is based on an object model. The OWL object model is a disciplined superset of the object models used by modern object programming languages. This removes the ‘impedence mismatch’ between object programming language and non-object DBMS.
