A New York Times article in November 2006 labeled the Semantic Web ‘Web 3.0’, suggesting that it is one generation beyond Web 2.0.

How does the OWL standard from the W3C's work on information modeling in the Semantic Web (or ‘Web 3.0’) relate to Web 2.0?

One answer is that the standards developed for information modeling in the Semantic Web will provide the data management foundation for Web 2.0 applications. Iconographically that might look like:
